Inside photos of India's largest private residence, not Mukesh Ambani, Nita Ambani's Antilia

Built in 1890 by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III, the palace is a masterpiece of Indo-Saracenic architecture.

Spanning over 500 acres, the palace is four times the size of Buckingham Palace, making it the largest private residence in India.

The construction cost of the palace in the late 19th century was ₹180,000, a staggering sum at the time.

The palace often hosts cultural festivals, concerts, and events, preserving Vadodara’s rich artistic traditions. The estate includes a 9-hole golf course, adding a modern recreational touch to its historic grandeur.

Inside the Lakshmi Vilas Palace are two huge courtyards, dotted with trees and fountains that kept the palace cool on hot summer afternoons. The floors were done with expensive marbles and mosaics that are still maintained well to this day.

A part of the palace has been converted into a museum that showcases the Gaekwad family’s history, artifacts, and royal memorabilia.

The interiors boast grand halls, ornate chandeliers, mosaic decorations, and exquisite marble and glasswork.
